BOOKs/MATERIALs
CHECKOUT POLICIES
Students will attend the Library Learning Center with their classrooms approximately once a week. During that time, students will either participate in a story time or work on a lesson. At the end of the story time or lesson, students are given time to checkout books. We ask that each book be returned one week after checkout to allow other students to check out the book as well. If a student has not completed reading a book, the student can choose to renew a book twice, giving the student 3 weeks to finish reading the book before returning it.
The first month that we check out books, students can check out one book at a time. When a student returns his/her book, the student can check out another book. If a student forgets to return a book on the due date, the student will not have an opportunity to check out new materials until the first book is returned.
After the first month of book checkouts, students in grades 1 through 4 will be able to check out two books each week. Kindergarten and Early Childhood/Preschool students will continue to check out only one book per week.
As projects are assigned within the classroom, students will have opportunities to check out books chosen specifically to assist with the assigned project even if he/she already has two books checked out.
Once every few weeks the LLC will send home a list of missing books to students so they can look for them at home and in their desks. If a book is lost or damaged, the student will need to pay the replacement cost of the book.
